For many folks, 2020 was the year of the premium home theater investment. Whether it was adding a sound bar to upgrade a TV’s less-than-stellar speakers or going for the gusto in a multi-speaker system, lots of folks gave their “home movie night” a serious make-over.

Take recent #MondayShowcase winner Kevin Cunneely, a radiologist in Nashville, Tennessee. “When I bought a new house last year that had an unfinished room appropriate for a home theater, I auditioned several speakers at a local A/V store,” he says. “I planned for mostly watching movies/TV, so I wanted a theater-like quality of sound.

Kevin’s setup:

“I planned for mostly watching movies/TV, so I wanted a theater-like quality of sound. The Klipsch speakers I auditioned had it in spades and still sound great when listening to music on occasion."

FIRST-LISTEN FEELS

Cunneely breaks down the feeling of hearing his Klipsch home theater system for the first time. “The sound got even better after adding isolating sub platforms and using room calibration to dial in the best settings for the room,” he says. “I love the impactful and fully immersive nature the speakers provide. You hear every quiet detail and FEEL every explosion/impact. The sound is so good that I feel like I will eventually need to upgrade to a large projector screen to match my picture to the high level of sound.”

Now, that’s what we like to hear.

MASSIVE MOVIE NIGHTS

As for what Cunneely enjoys watching or listening to, those were easy decisions. “I love movies of all types, but anything with an incredible soundtrack or lots of action just comes alive,” he says. “The RF-7s are sooo musical. Strings and horns just feel like they are live and in person. Explosions are felt in your chest. With that, anything from Marvel or in the Star Wars universe sounds incredible.”
